She was a chef with Larry Forgione and then at various restaurants in New York France and Los Angeles which included Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. She was eventually appointed executive chef at Butter. Guarnaschelli is a Food Network Iron Chef America contestant who competed against Cat Cora for the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 in Iron Chef America. Seit then she is a judge of the program. She also competed for The Next Iron Chef in season 4 in 2011. Also, she participated in the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode, but lost the competition. In the fourth series of The Next Iron Chef, she started working as an assistant chef for Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian. She also hosted The Food Network program The Cooking Loft together in conjunction with Alex Guarnaschelli. In this show she taught a group of small students how to reinvent classic recipes.
